Lubrication System
The lubrication system of an engine is as critical as veins and arteries in the human body.  It provides clean oil at the accurate temperature to vital parts of the engine.  It does this by pumping oil from the pan from the sump, forcing it through the filter, and pressure fed to the main bearings, oil passages, and onto the bearings of the connecting rods.  The rotating crankshaft disperses oil to the bearings of the piston-pin and cylinder walls.  In some vehicles, the oil may pass through an oil cooler to maintain proper and safe operating temperatures.  Remote mount oil filters may be used when the oil is changed often and/or the oil filter is in a difficult to reach place.  Quick release valves may be used to speed or reduce mess during oil changes.
